Growing microorganisms at our laboratory

In these days we are studying microorganisms in our classes. Bacteria are the most abundant living beings all over the planet and we can find them everywhere. Today we are going to confirm it. At our laboratory, we have prepared some Petri dishes with culture medium, and we have put different objects over it: our fingers, different plant leaves, our keys, ear rings... We have even sung a song to a Petri dish. Tomorrow we will see our results. If bacteria are everywhere, we will expect that our bacteria grow. In this case we will see lot of colonies of different sizes, colors and shapes. Perhaps we will have some fungi. I would like to know your opinion about our experiments. I know that some of you want to repeat these experiments at home. I have some Petri dishes for the best comments.

  1. Today's class has been very fun. Today we have given the plates of bacteria, different objects such as hairs, keys, plants, coins, saliva ... And even talk and sing. I have made some of the objects that I have announced before, such as hairs, keys and coins. It has been amazing! -Elisabeth-

  2. Hi, teacher! I'm Almu!
I like this experiment so much! I could see how Noa put his finger and then his mark was marked, as well as the trace of the earrings, the leaves, the flower, the coin, the keys, the land of the garden, the saliva of Maribel ... I am anxious to see the result and observe the bacterial colonies!

  4. I was lookin on internet for other types of culture ther are:
-Fitration (is only used whe are a little number of bacterias)
-Most Probable Number (this is a technique statistics)
-Microscope (you take the bacterias and see in the microscope)
There are other method, but this are the more popular.

  11. Hello I am laila of three project talks about the bacteria we took the Petri dish and we threw many things: clock a nail nails a flower we were going to take the phone from Medi but it could not fit the saliva of a partner ect. this experiment is very interesting because as matter can be the last year we did an experiment like that and we needed a million bacteria to see a millimeter had to be in a row
